Have you ever asked a question with laced with humor but has a serious undertone ?

April 19th, 2009 | by Anthony |

CATheist asked:

Do you ask this question hoping that Atheists will answer with a laugh but you get a bunch of serious Christians that didn’t even catch the joke part of it instead?

I am rarely serious on YA. I’m not here to change the world or peoples views. I get on here for a little stress relief from work, a laugh or two to lighten up my mood before to have return to the “Beyatch” mode and tell people things they don’t want to hear.

I have answered humorous questions seriously, in order to be humorous, and the person who asked the humorous question didn’t get it… and so they failed.

It’s sometimes difficult to be aware of people’s meaning when you’re communicating through text alone.

Sometimes it’s hard to detect the tone of a question/comment over the intermanet.

Actually, most get the joke. But when I answer a foolish question seriously it is halirious to see the troll get defensive and try to explain. It never fails to ***** me up.

Yes. The best is when I ask the atheists something silly and I get reprimanded by the Christians for being a “bad Christian.”

    the lolz are endless…

Every question in this section, irrespective of the fact that it may be a blatant joke, is ruined by Christians and their goddamn bible quotes.

Serious questions are ruined by me.

    I’m better than Christians.

I have asked joking questions about creationism to prove a point and some don’t get it. It’s like when I want them to replace the Genesis account with any other creation story and have that taught in American public schools. On one hand I’m joking, on the other hand I am exposing creationists’ hypocrisy.

If it is humorous, but the question is serious, I will answer it serious.

I asked ”if vegetarians like animals so much why do they keep eating their food?” and someone took it seriously.

    1) Humor does not often come through clearly in text without vocal inflection.

    2) Many people have little or no sense of humor about their religion, lack of religion, ideology, etc.

    3) People who already feel like they are being attacked, automatically assume the worst when they are being teased.
