We are going through a merger at work which is causing alot of stress for everyone?

We have new systems to learn, new management, etc. My boss has asked for my help in creating a “survival kit” for my co-workers. So far, all I can think of is chocolate for this kit. What else could we put in it? Thanks!!

Stress ball or other toys. Other types of food (not everyone likes or eats chocolate), movie passes, food coupons, etc.

Any kind of alcohol, anti-depressants, cash, a sense of humor and a positive attitude for anyone who feels the need to look for another job. Oh, I forgot- a pair of rubber boots to wade through all the bullsh*t. Sometimes the grass is greener on the other side.

chocolate would be one of my first choices too!does your company offer an employee assistance programme? if so there should be stress counseling in the mix. maybe a small button with their phone number. if your company does not have this - perhaps you could convince your boss to arrange for special availability for stress counseling and give each employee a coupon for a visit with the counselor. or perhaps a coupon for free visits to a local gym or something like tai bo or kick boxing classes. (physical exertion to get the frustration out) or even a coupon for a movie could help (just to take one’s mind away from The situation for a bit) we are soon to be going thru our 3rd merger at my workplace and they’ve never even offered any kind of survival kit. sounds like you have a great boss. good luck to you & your colleagues.

Fruit - with it’s natural sugar fruit is a great energy source
Energy Bars - Luna, Pria and Snickers brands are great
Water - flavored, energy or carbonated
Gum and Mints - refreshing when you need a pick-me-up
CD - make your own with some inspiring music for break time
Cards - coworkers can play a quick mindless game at break
Book of Riddles - everybody needs a laugh once in awhile

I would think a kit would need a listing of the new structure your company is going to, manuals of the new systems and maybe phone numbers? You may need to talk to you boss, did he mean things like food? If the answer is yes go for calming stuff like tea. If it means long hours find some prepackaged healthier snacks like trail mixes or protein bars.
Good luck,
Julie
