I work in a high stress apartment management office as an assistant manager/programs coordinator. The company has been cut off with all but 4 vendors. They don’t pay bills, we don’t have office supplies–not even copy paper! We can’t even run credit checks on applicants. I’m ready to bail, but I’m afraid that I’ll run into a long period of unemployment and fall behind on my bills (rent/car payments/tuition/etc.). What should I do?

That sounds like a terrible situation, but you should (almost) never give notice without another job. Start looking for another job ASAP and give notice once you have another offer on the table.

Start applying for another job. As soon as you find another job then quit this one. Never quit one job without having another. Good Luck

Get your resume together and put it on Monster, Career Builder, etc. It sounds like your company is about to close it’s doors. Here’s the only positive piece about that. You can collect unemployment if they close their doors and not feel bad about it. You weren’t fired, you got laid off. But a good rule of thumb is that you should always have another job lined up before you leave one.

Get on monster.com and start getting your resume out there. Never leave without another job lined up. Hopefully you have vacation/sick time that you can take for interviews. If you’re asked why you’re leaving, just tell them simply that offices, like people, have different personalities, and you look forward to finding an office that matches your level of responsibility and work ethic.

Find another job first, if you quit now you won’t be able to draw unemployment benefits if you can’ find another job right away.

Look for a job while working and do not give your notice until you have other employment in place. It is easier to get a job while still employed.

You need to put out your resume fast!! Don’t give notice before you get another job…But, It doesn’t sound good, so I hope you get a new job soon! Hope this helps…

You should never quit a job without having another one set up. As awful as your job sounds, I’ve been there. Find another job ASAP, and then give your two weeks notice. By giving the notice it will look good on your next job, even if you don’t want to give notice. Good Luck!
