Come on Ladies, I need some help! Long question?
July 27th, 2009 | by Anthony |Nikki asked:
So for those who don’t know me on here, I’ll give a little background for you.
For one, I’m married. I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) as well as an anxiety disorder. I manage my stress levels with daily yoga, a healthy diet, and sometimes medication. We’ve been trying to conceive for quite awhile now, almost a year, with no luck other then a few m/c’s. My last one was Nov.24th 2008. I was 4 weeks. Regardless, my cycles have been in the 40-50 day range (depending on my stress management) but I haven’t had a period since Aug.16th! I missed my period Sept.28th (when it was due, doc ruled it as a funny period) and got pregnant the following month without ever having a period. However, I’m pretty sure I’m ovulating. I feel the same pains, with a few drops of watery blood. Now it’s Dec.16th and nothing has happened yet. I bled for a few hours with my m/c but that was it. My ibs flared with the stress of the loss of the baby and put me back in the hospital. They confirmed the m/c and told me I’d be fine. Now, my doctor told me she wanted me to be put on birth control pills for a few months, but I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with them. It took a year for my periods to come back last time. I don’t have the time to do that, but I’d like to not use fertility drugs. My doctor doesn’t have a clue why my cycles are doing this. I’ve had tests and scans, pap’s, everything and nothing is wrong. She said there’s no reason for my periods to be this irregular. I don’t have pcos, cysts–notta. I was ***** a lot as a child though, so she expects there is scar tissue formed around my fallopian tubes causing my egg to have a hard time traveling through. Which made sense when they were 40-50 days. But now it makes none at all.. She also thought if I lost 15 lbs that I would probably regulate them myself.. so I lost the 15 lbs. But now they’re even further apart. I lost it slowly and healthy so I don’t know what to think.
So basically…
1) Why are my cycles doing this? Any reasons why?
2) What can I do now to regulate them more? without using fertility drugs preferably, but if I have to I will.. I’ve heard bad things about clomid though. Are there any that have the least chance of multiples?
Thanks in advance, I know this was a long one. If you don’t have anything helpful to say, or you just want to whine about how long this is don’t bother wasting your time. It doesn’t help anybody

You should have an HSG dye test to see if your tubes are blocked by scar tissue or anything else. I would insist that the doctor do more testing before putting me back on BC knowing all of the problems you have had with it. They can do that test and stop guessing. I am so sorry that all of those things happened to you.

Maybe you could try a Naturopath, they will probably give you herbs and vitamins that can help increase your chances, and should be able to work with you some of the other issues that could be affecting you.
Good luck

ok i dont have a specific answer really but i used to be irregular at one time and after 2 m/c earlier this year and a change in c/m patterns i did alot of reading and learnt a few things about natural estrogens which help in the first part of your cycle and nikki its no big thing to add these to your diet because it may help in some way and if not its still healthy i started eating soy and linseed bread instead of regular, i changed to soy milk on my breakfast cereal only bought flaxseed oil tabs there full of omega 3 and natural anti immflamatory may help your tubes and drank a glass of grapefruit juice a day , there are lots of other sources of natural estrogens if you google it but these were my choice and after about 6 weeks i fell pregnant and though its only early my symptoms are lot more intense than past 2 m/c so im feeling very confident, but once you get pregnant you need tocut back on the natural estrogens i believe this helped my hormones and i had nothing to lose goodluck Nikki i hope you find something that helps !

i think you would be a great candidate for an hsg test. it is a dye test that tests for a blockage of your tubes. the doctors won’t tell you this, or use it in this way, but many women have become pregnant directly after receiving this test because the dye can clean out the tubes causing a women to be more fertile than she has ever been. maybe it will help you. sorry i can’t answer your direct questions, if your doctors are stumped, than so am i. and i don’t think there are any fertility drugs with a lower chance of multiples than other ones. but i’ve been wrong (once or twice
) good luck, and lots of baby dust.
