Why is it that I keep hearing this noise in my ear?

September 30th, 2009

RenayR asked:

I am a 22 year old female. Last year I had to see a doctor do to the fact that my jaw muscles would tighten up for about 30 seconds at a time; about ten times a day. The only thing leading up to the spasm was this noise in my ear. It is so hard to explain but it was kind of like a fluttering/bubbling noise. They doctor told me that it was stress and that I needed to take some sort of stress management. Almost immediately my symptoms went away. Now its been a little over a year and the problem is back except a little different. The ear thing is so much more uncomfortable. It is so hard to explain what it sounds like but, I describe it as sounding like a bath tub draining, packing tape and stretching. I can feel and hear it starting in my ear and then leading to my jaw. It happens every time I bend over or lay down. It also happens a lot throughout the day. The thing that concerns me most is that I had this pain in my head for about a week before this all started again. It was between my eye and my ear. With this as well it happened every time I bent over or lay down. I am debating going back to the doctor but I have no insurance and I don’t want to pay another $300 to tell my that I am too stressed. I hope that someone can give me some advise. I would really appreciate it. Oh… and all this has been going on for about three weeks this time around. THANKS!

Harrassment and Stress in the workplace? What are my options?

September 20th, 2009

Phil in Fallon asked:

I’ve been working for a very large government contractor on a military installation for almost four years now. I work in an office environment with many conflicting personalities. The problem with this is that when problems arise, there really is nowhere to go. Nepotism runs very deep in this company. I would say that about 20% of the 300 employees are related in some way. And most importantly, almost all of the upper dozen management are related! Although we are all in the Teamster’s Union, the union will not give it there all because I’ve been told, “Don’t rock the boat” as well as, “You know how things work around here, with this family”. So, there’s my problem. I work in a very hostile environment and I think my number is coming up. I get written up for any little BS thing. They go through my paperwork and files looking for dirt anytime I may call in sick or take a personal day. The last time I was being written up, I did not sign the paperwork because the union guy sitting in with us called BS, and finally spoke up and said, this is obviously a witchhunt. The boss threw out the paperwork and told me to leave. I got out of this last one, but now she is smokin’ mad! And I know she’s out for revenge. Anyway, I am really stressed out when I go to work, I work in a hostile environment where I am always looking over my shoulder. I have nowhere to run to because all of the management are brothers, sisters, spouses, cousins, it’s ridiculous! I am going leave this job because I can’t work in these conditions, but at the same time I feel like they got the best of me and that “they” won by running out yet another good employee!!

help me on my english summary

September 19th, 2009

Alex asked:

In the essay “ Stress Management: Personally Adjusting To Stress” Richard L. Weaver, claims that stress is caused by many situations, but that there are many ways to control it. Weaver explains that behavior, feelings, and thoughts are all triggers to causing stress. However, Weaver explains that by relaxing, controlling your thoughts, trying to view a conflict from a problem solving approach, and talking to our selves can all help us cope with stress. In addition, Weaver points out that he believes that these techniques can help us very well if we use them, and the better we react to stress because of them.

is it ok ? any tips?

I amso upset and don’t know what to do, PLZ help, No BS?

September 5th, 2009

JAY DUB asked:

Well to start out, a while ago my girl freind broke up with me as incentive to get stress management help, so i did and her and i got back together notto long after, it seems she doesn’t give a sh*t about me & my feelings, she doesn’t act the way she used to at the begging and middle, herandi have been together for a year, myparents admit they **** her because she’s hurt me and other various reasons , so we are forbidden to go to each others house or have “Us” time where we can just hangout together, so we practically never get our time, She acts different at school than when it’s us, I **** “School Marissa”. I have been the best Boy freind i could, i have done everyhing and anything for her, things most guys wouldn’t, and she thinks things that she used to like that i do are gross, orsomething else, such as sharing a drink, or even kissing, it’s tearing me apart, and we have so much planned and love her but can’t give up knowing someother guy will have her and kids ect.
Plz Help
