I left job A because I had to relocate for family reasons. I was offered 2 positions in the new city (job B and C). Both job B and C pay much better than Job A, so both are a promotion.
However, Job C pays 30% more than Job B (both have good benefits). I chose job C because it sounded like a no brainer - take the higher pay. But I have worked at Job C for almost a month and have heard many negatives. The turnover is over 100%. The hours are long - 12 hours a day is not unusual. It’s high pressure with high expectations, and some have commented to me that the job is detrimental to their personal lives because of the hours and stress.
Job B offered me the job and because the boss is on vacation, I have time to accept it still. It pays much less but the hours would be 7.5 a day. I think job B suits my personality better and is more secure, although it is at a lower level (Job C is considered management). The content of job B is more fun, but the content of Job C will open me up to more job opportunities (although the type of work might not suit me anyway).
On paper, Job C is the better job, but the stress could affect my family / home life. Suggestions?
About the family situation, I just got married a month ago. If it weren’t for that, I’d be more willing to sacrifice home life for a while and move on, but the 1st year of marriage is pretty important!
